The
Day My Eyes Cried For My Mom
Being
her youngest daughter of ten children I was the one mostly around
to see how busy her life was. My mom [Essie Mae Dunbar] has always
been an outgoing, talkative, very involved, energetic person.
She was a very active participant in numerous organizations and
community services. In 1999 she was diagnosed with the dreaded
big “A” (Alzheimer’s)!
I
was driving 18-wheelers over the road at the time, so I decided
to come off the road and start taking care of my mom, I brought
her to live with me. Day by day I watched her mind, spirit and
body quickly regress to a solemn, spiritless, almost catatonic-like
person, staring into space, she would not talk to us or with
us, my heart wept but not my eyes. I found myself unable to shed
tears for my mom. The only thing my heart, soul and mind were
focused on was taking care of her and praying for something to
happen to make her better. I did not want to sit around crying
feeling helpless. I must admit that there were moments when I
did start feeling helpless. Everything the doctors were giving
her was making things worse. One medicine they were giving her
was messing with her bowels, the other was messing up her appetite,
(she was steadily losing weight) and neither was helping with
the big “A”.
My
heart wept every morning when I would go in to her room to get
her dressed for the day. You see, she could no longer dress herself.
I continued to talk to her every day as if she would answer me.
I would say, “good morning Mom, how you feeling today”, hoping
and praying that one day she would respond to me. Everyday I
would say this and everyday, no response.
Around
April 2002, a friend of my mom called and said I should try a
product called AGE-less from a company named Healing America.
Well, I thought to myself, why not, nothing the doctors are giving
her is working, so I’ll give it a try. I started giving her 3-4
capsules everyday. After about four weeks of having her on the
AGE-less, I walked in my mom’s room as I always do, looking in
the closet for something to put on her for the day and said my
usual, “Good morning mom, how are you today?” She said, “FINE,
HOW YOU” I turned around, looked at her and to my surprise, she
was looking at me, I said, “I-I-I-I’m fine mom, you feel OK today?” She
said, “Yea, I feel OK”, I turned back around to the closet and
said, “that’s good mom, that’s real good”. Tears started rolling
down my face. It had been so long, so many months since I had
heard my mom respond to anything I asked her; I just couldn’t
stop crying. I can’t explain how hearing my mom say those two
little seven word sentences made me feel.
My
mom now responds to almost everytbjng we say to her, and even
assists in getting herself dressed in the mornings. She watches
TV and joins in conversations with us. Most of the time the conversation
is not what we’re talking about but we don’t care, just the fact
of her talking to us makes it a good conversation. She laughs
with us a lot now. She is no longer on any medication from the
doctor for the Alzheimer’s or anything else. Her appetite is
great; she eats everything we put in front of her and doesn’t
have any problems with her bowels anymore. Thanks to the Colon
Activator and Colon detox neither do I.
After
I saw what the AGE-less did for my mom, I decided to try other
products for myself and what a wonderful surprise when I discovered
they do exactly what they claim to do. I began telling all my
family and friends about mom and Healing America. Since Alzheimer’s
